The footprint should follow the largest display object, the number of interactions happening at the same time, and where a deeper buyer discussion needs to continue. Moving to a larger booth only makes sense when the additional floor area solves one of those constraints.
A 10x20 booth works well when one device, software workflow, communications system, or compact equipment line carries the main story, while still leaving room to separate the product demo from the buyer conversation.
A 20x30 booth is better suited to exhibitors that need the main product demonstration to continue while another visitor moves into a technical, purchasing, or agency-specific discussion.
A 20x20 island booth becomes relevant when visitors need to approach from more than one side, or when a demo, storage, and a compact discussion point can no longer share an inline footprint. IACP also requires at least a 20x20 island for a displayed vehicle or mobile unit.
A 30x40 booth or larger footprint becomes useful when vehicles, large equipment, multiple product systems, meeting space, and staff storage would otherwise compete for the same usable floor area.
